Let's talk about Jobs

What type of employers are near you?

Businesses come in all shapes and sizes and it will help you if you start thinking about the types of employers in your own travel area.

There may be shops, manufacturers, motor repairers, joiners, banks, engineering firms, garden nurseries, joinery shops, information technology/computer specialists and many more.

Local employers may also be part of large multi-national companies, public sector bodies like your local council or smaller private firms with fewer than 10 employees.

All of them should be familiar with the Disability Discrimination Act but some will have work more suited to your skills and interests than others.

Take a good look around the areas you can easily travel to and make a list of all the types of businesses there and think about what type of work interests you most - take a look at the Personal Checklist for more information  what type of work interests you most?

Then within the Personal Checklist have a look at what is available in your travel to work area?

This will help you match prospective employers in your area with your interests and ambitions.

When you find something you would like to do, we will help identify the training best suited for you and your personal development and support needs.

There are so many opportunities. With our newly appointed Case Managers on board we are already working with trainees on programmes relating to jobs as diverse as Digger Driving, Electrician, Gas Maintenance, Interior Design and Animal Welfare

The list is long so don’t rule anything out.
